Read

  6. He does not have a farm
  7. Each group of words given above, makes a complete sense and each group has its own meaning and each of group expresses a complete thought.


Definition - .a group of words that makes complete sense is called a sentence.

kinds of sentences

sentences are of four types:

  1. assertive sentences which make statements,
    A statement can be affirmative(positive) or Negative
    • His Diligence was appreciated (Affirmative)
    • all that glitters is not a gold(Negative)
  2. interrogative sentences which ask questions,
    • do Magicians fascinate you?
    • • How have northern plains had been formed ?
  3. . Imperative sentences that Express commands, advices, requests or entreaties.
  • • Don't make noise.
  • • Please write neatly.
  • • Have mercy upon the weak
1. Exclamatory sentences that Express strong and sudden feelings.
• How hot the weather is !
• What a wonderful start !
From the above it is clear that --
1. Every sentence begins with capital letter
2. A full stop (.) is placed at the end or last of every assertive and imperative sentence
3. An interrogative sentence ends with a question mark (?)
4. An exclamation mark (!) is placed at the end of every exclamatory sentence.
