Life Processes Best Notes For boards 2022

Definetion of Life Processes-The Processes which are essential for the survival of an individual organisms are called Life Processes.

There are Different types of Life Processes which are as follows-:

  1. Nutrition-

There are two types of nutrition.
  • Autotrophic Nutrition
  • Heterotrophic Nutrition

Autotrophic Nutrition-

It occurs in only on green plants and fungi.

  • Definetion-
  • The production of food by green plants through simple inorganic substances is called autotrophic nutrition.

  • Autotrophs uses the process of Photosynthesis to obtain there food.
  • 6CO2 + 12H2O ---> C6H12O6 + 6O2 + 6H2O

  • Plants store extra food in the form of starch which is used by them when they need.
  • Human stores there food in the form of glycogen.
  • The Processses which actually happens in photosynthesis are as follows-:

    • First the light energy is absorbed by chlorophyll.
    • Conversion of light energy to chemical energy and splitting of water molecules to Hydrogen and Oxygen.
    • Reduction of Carbon Dioxide to produce Carbohydrates.
    • Notes: That it is not mandatory to hold these processes exactly one after another.
For Example- Desert plants in desert takes carbon dioxide in night and prepare an intermediate which acted during by the energy absorbed by chlorophyll.

      Stomata
The tiny pores present on the surface of the leaves through which gaseous exchange takes place during photosynthesis are called stomata.

Large amount of water can also be lost from stomata if it remains open, it have to be closed when plants do not need gases.

This is ensured by guard cells these guard cells swells up when water flows into them which cause stomatal pore open and when it shrinks the stomatal pore gets closed.
